Tropical Storm Lee forms; Tropical Storm Maria to target Caribbean Islands

Following the development of Tropical Storm Lee, budding Hurricane Maria poses a threat to Irma-devastated areas in the northern Caribbean.

Tropical Storm Maria, located less than 700 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, presents the biggest risk to land as it continues to gain strength over the coming days. People in the Lesser Antilles should be preparing for yet another impactful tropical system.

Maria will quickly track to the west or west-northwest the next few days.

It remains quite active across the Atlantic Basin at this time.

A tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles has been designated Tropical Depression 15. Depression 15 will continue a general forward motion to the west-northwest into the middle of next week. By Tuesday morning, Depression 15 will be passing near or over the northern half of the Lesser Antilles, and may then impact the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico by Wednesday as a hurricane. All interests across the northeastern Caribbean need to carefully monitor the progress of the system over the next few days, as it is likely to become a tropical storm by the end of this weekend.

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 14th 2017 – The annual wreath laying ceremony at the Robert L. Bradshaw Memorial Park in St. Paul’s, is set for this coming Saturday – National Heroes Day.

Former Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will lay the first wreath at the foot of the life-size statue of the Federation’s First National Hero and Father of Independence, the Right Excellent Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw.
