Two more Nevisian youths to benefit from MUA/NIA Scholarship
NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (JULY 05, 2017) — Oresia Stapleton and Yolinda Liburd join the list of students who benefit from the Medical University of the Americas/Nevis Island Administration (MUA/NIA) Scholarship, a facility which is available since 1998.
They were announced as the annual scholarship’s awardees for 2017 by Mrs. Nicole Slack-Liburd, Chairperson for the MUA/NIA Scholarship Committee and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, at the Legal Department’s conference room on July 05, 2017.

Four bills receive first reading at Nevis Island Assembly sitting

NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (JULY 06, 2017) — Three bills related to the Nevis Financial  Services Industry and one to the Ministry of Finance were tabled and received their first reading at a siting of the Nevis Island Assembly on July 06, 2017
The Bills – Nevis International Exempt Trust Ordinance, 2016,  Nevis Business Corporation Ordinance, 2017, Nevis Limited Liability Company Ordinance, 2017 and the Nevis Supplementary Appropriation (2016) Ordinance, 2017 were introduced by Hon. Vance Amory, Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance.

The Ministry of National Security, as part of its Crime Reduction and Prevention Strategy, and as an integral part of broader community policing and social intervention initiatives,  is promoting and guiding the formation of community youth groups around the federation.  The youth groups will be engaged in community development, social and educational activities, all geared towards strengthening the character and promoting positive behaviours in young people, including respect, discipline and displaying positive attitudes towards all meaningful endeavours.

The appointment of Major General Saunders to the post of National Security Advisor came following a vigorous recruitment process that commenced in November 2016.

OPPOSITION MP KONRIS MAYNARD NAMED AND SUSPENDED FROM PARLIAMENT FOR GROSS DISRESPECT TO SPEAKER

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 12, 2017 (SKNIS): The Sitting of the National Assembly on July 11 had gone on relatively smoothly but Member of Parliament (MP) for St. Christopher Three, the Honourable Konris Maynard, spoiled the day when he was called out, named and suspended from the hallowed chamber for gross disrespect and defiance to Speaker Honourable Michael Perkins. This is the second time that MP Maynard has been asked to take leave of the Parliament for gross disrespect to the Chair, the first being on May 23 of this year.
