EU-CELAC SUMMIT 2023 RECOGNIZES RISING LEVELS OF SARGASSUM AS A THREAT TO THE CARIBBEAN’S BLUE ECONOMY

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 04, 2023 (SKNIS): A monthly report, published by the University of South Florida’s Optical Oceanography Lab, said that more than 24 million tonnes of sargassum blanketed the Atlantic Ocean in June 2022, up from 18.8 million tonnes in May of the same year, calling it “a new historical record”.

SUSPECTED COCAINE FOUND IN NEWTOWN

The Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has recovered more suspected Cocaine in Newtown, St. Kitts. During a search of an empty lot on Herbert Street, the ANU found a solid white substance suspected to be Cocaine. No one has been held accountable for the suspected contraband find.
