Update on Nevis Water Situation
Today Personnel of the Nevis Water Department (NWD) were successful in Installing a New Pump at the BEAD Maddens Height Pumping Station. The Pump Installed is the Replacement Pump Provided By BEAD and is currently Pumping at a Rate of 300 Imperial Gallons Per Minute. This is double the output of the temporary pump that had been working for the Last 3 months. Please note that some areas may be experiencing outages at this time, as this well would have been out of service the entire day. The situation however should normalize over the next week as it will take some time for reservoirs to fill. I want to thank the General Public for your patience, support and understanding. The Government is sensitive to the needs of our people and have left no stone unturned in trying to restore steady supply.
Big thanks to the guys who came out at 6 am today and worked until almost 8 pm to complete the job. I am very proud of the way you worked today.
Hon. Troy Liburd

TAMPA
The identity of one person who died after a multi-car crash Friday morning on the Howard Frankland Bridge was announced late Friday night by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Oswald E. Caines, 61, of Tampa, was killed after he was taken to an area hospital following the crash, in which his Ford F250 overturned.
According to FHP, the crash happened at 4:41 a.m. on the bridge, which is also a portion of Interstate 275, north of Tampa’s Fourth Street.
All four vehicles involved in the crash were traveling in the northbound lanes, according to FHP.
A Toyota Corolla swerved to miss a dolly cart lying in the outside lane and was struck by an RV in the next lane. The Corolla then struck the inside barrier wall, according to FHP.
The RV, however, lost control and went toward the outside shoulder of the road.
A Maserati and a Ford F250 driven by Caines were both in the outside lane and slowed, trying to steer away but the Maserati struck the back of the truck, according to FHP.
The Maserati was able to pull to the shoulder, however the truck was propelled forward by the impact and overturned, landing in the path of the RV, according to FHP.
The RV hit the truck and drove toward the shoulder until Caine’s F250 disengaged, overturned and stopped. However, the RV continued back across the road until it struck the concrete barrier wall, according to FHP.
Caines died from his injuries after he was taken to an area hospital, according to FHP. A Spring Hill woman and driver of the Corolla, suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the Maserati walked away from the crash scene.
FHP reported the crash had closed all northbound lanes of I-275 on the bridge, but as of 7:30 a.m. several northbound lanes had reopened.
It is not known where the dolly cart came from, FHP noted in an afternoon update on the crash.
FHP did not yet identify the driver who died, and the investigation of the crash’s cause continues.
