SUGAR GIRLZ FACE COSTA RICA TEST TONIGHT


The Sugar Girlz are ready for a stern test against Women’s World Cup participants Costa Rica
tonight at 9 p.m. in Costa Rica in the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup qualifier. The Sugar Girls
left almost a week ago for the Central American country and have continued their preparations
well, as disclosed by their Coach Samuel Phipps. “Preparations are going well. The ladies are
always excited when we hit the field. We always tell them how we train is how we are going to
play. The most important aspect of any team is to have a defined game model and set of
principles that provide good organization going into this game,” Phipps said.

ST. PAUL’S UNITED GO THE DISTANCE TO TAKE GAME ONE


It went the full distance in Game One of the 2023 Super Six finals at Warner Park on Saturday
night as defending champions SL Horfords St. Paul’s United displayed their never-say-die
attitude to win 4-3 on penalties to defeat Rams Village Superstars. Both teams were locked 1-1 at
regulation time, after Village forward Joseph Wilkes, pounced on an error by goalkeeper Jamal
Jeffers to give the Basseterre side an early lead in the 4h minute.

SUPER SIX FINALS SERIES KICKS OFF SATURDAY

The battle line has been drawn for the SKNFA Premier League Finals: Rams Village Superstars
up against defending champions SL Horfords St. Paul’s United. St. Paul’s are looking to three-
peat the premier league title as they have done for the FA Cup and President’s Cup. But Village
Superstars are looking to stop that run, after going on an unbeaten run to the finals in the Super
Six playoff thus far and an excellent streak in round 2 of the premier league. Now both teams
will duke for the coveted title and the grand prize of $50,000, starting on Saturday at 8 pm at the
Warner Park. At a pre-match press conference on Thursday at Warner Park, players and
representatives of both teams spoke with confidence ahead of their match. St. Paul’s Assistant
Manager Austin Lewis encouraged fans to come out in their numbers to support their teams.
