Walton’s 92 trumps Smith ton
A record run-chase at Providence Stadium by Guyana Amazon Warriors overshadowed a superb century from Dwayne Smith in Match 19 of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL). After Smith’s brilliance had lifted the Tridents to 159 the Amazon Warriors chased the total with four balls to spare.
Chasing a record 160 at Providence Stadium demanded efficient use of the Powerplay by the Amazon Warriors and a combination of wayward lines from the Tridents and clean hitting from Chadwick Walton and promoted opener Sohail Tanvir gave them that.

Geoffrey Boycott: West Indies a ‘ cricketing tragedy’
Cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott has called the West Indies cricket team ‘the worst Test match in the last 50 years’, adding that their most recent defeat at Edgbaston was ‘embarrassing’.
According to a report from Cricbuzz, the former English cricketer and commentator said the team’s slide is a ‘cricketing tragedy’.

Gayle, Samuels in West Indies ODI squad, while Trinis snub selectors
Jamaicans Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels have been included in a 15-member West Indies squad that has been named to play England in a five-match One Day International (ODI) series in September, following the ongoing three-Test series.
But three other regional stars, Trinidadian brothers Dwayne and Darren Bravo, and countryman Sunil Narine have declined to participate in the ODI series.
