SKNFA PREMIER LEAGUE RETURNS WITH VICTORIES FOR THREE TEAMS


The SKNFA Premier League came back in fine style at the Warner Park football stadium on the
weekend with three big matches to continue the 2021 SKNFA Premier League. On Friday Hostspring Bath United made a big dent in their efforts to avoid relegation with a 2-0 victory over Fast Cash Saddlers United. Goals were scored by Venreece Richards in the 18th min and Kenaicy Dorsett 85 th minute. After the match Coach of Bath United Alex Claxton, said the win is crucial for the team to avoid relegation. “The objective was to make sure at half time no goals conceded and also we were in the lead and we met that objective. Second half, the objective was to also make sure no goals scored but at the same time, we soak up the pressure and wait until that moment come and make use of the opportunity,” Coach Claxton said.

SKNFA HOSTS FIRST EVER FOOTBALL SECURITY TRAINING


The first ever St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) Football Security Training was held recently over a four-day period. This training is designed prepare enlisted persons to provide security services at football venues in accordance with international standards. Carlton Pinney, an Executive Member of the SKNFA in charge of security, explained the concept and purpose of the training exercise. “Today we made history. The first ever workshop for (football) security. Raising the standard of football was why this training was created,” Pinney said.

SKNFA RELAUNCHES COMPREHENSIVE GRASSROOTS PROGRAM


The St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association recently relaunched a revamped and more
comprehensive grassroots program that will see the participation of youth from all cross-sections
of the Federation. The program will not only be held in Basseterre, but has extended to the rural
communities and on Nevis. Head of Competitions on the SKNFA Executive Alleyne Morris,
said revitalizing the grassroots program is a priority of the association.

St. Paul’s Win President’s Cup In Football’s Return


It took only three minutes for St. Paul’s United F.C. to score the only goal of the match to give
the defending Premier League champions the 2021-2022 President’s Cup title on Wednesday
night. St. Paul’s defeated St. Peters 1-0 to clinch the title, as the Warner Park stadium was filled
with euphoria and football fans excited to see the return of football after about a year hiatus.
Petrez Williams was the goal scorer in the 3 rd minute.

FOOTBALL IS BACK: OFFICIALS EXPRESS ELATION
After almost a year break due to the impact of the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2021, competitive
domestic football returned to St. Kitts and Nevis last week Wednesday with the St. Kitts and
Nevis Football Association’s (SKNFA) President’s Cup at the Warner Park. The match was
played between S.L. Horfords St. Paul’s United and St. Peters F.C. It was a festive atmosphere
and one that saw even the arrival of the Queen’s Baton Relay making in St. Kitts and Nevis. The
Queen’s Baton Relay is part of the promotion of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where the
Games’ torch is featured in all the countries in the British Commonwealth.
