ST. KITTS AND NEVIS BAR ASSOCIATION ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT PROMOTION OF MEDIATION TECHNIQUES IN THE FEDERATION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 14, 2019 (SKNIS): Mediation is widely considered to be an effective tool to resolve conflicts between individuals or parties. Against this backdrop, the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association is enthusiastic about the promotion of mediation techniques in the Federation. “I am very excited with the court’s initiative as it relates to mediation and my hope is that the wider use of mediation will result in a culture of conflict resolution in St. Kitts and Nevis, a preferable solution to settling disputes as they arise,” said Dahlia Joseph Rowe, President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association, on Tuesday, November 12, during the launch of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court’s (ECSC) Mediation Public Awareness Campaign.

In order to ease traffic congestion along the Bay Road in the vicinity of the Public Market, and to better accommodate persons traveling to that area to do business, a section of the Bay Road will only allow for traffic to flow in one direction on Saturday mornings.

INLAND REVENUE CHANGES TAX STRUCTURE ON LICENCING OF VEHICLES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 11, 2019 (RSCNPF): The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has updated the way the tax is applied for licencing new vehicles.

Senior Tax Inspector at the IRD, Oleah Prentice, spoke about the changes on a recent edition of “Traffic Talk” where she was a special guest. She joined Inspector Phillip Eddy and Officer Donaly Liburd-Chiverton who are the regular hosts of the programme. Persons will now be charged the licensing fee per month.
