Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 28, 2019 (SKNIS): Over the past 15 years, Secretary General of the St. Kitts-Nevis National Commission for UNESCO, Antonio Maynard, who will be retiring on May 31, 2019, has guided the Federation in accomplishing and benefiting from a number of initiatives.

Some of these initiatives include the Ratification of the anti-doping in Sports Convention, Underwater Cultural Heritage Convention, Intangible Culture Heritage 2003 Convention and the Diversity in Culture Expressions 2005 Convention.

ANTONIO MAYNARD LEAVES BEHIND A SOLID LEGACY AFTER 15 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH UNESCO
Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 28, 2019 (SKNIS): After serving 15 years as Secretary General of the St. Kitts-Nevis National Commission for UNESCO, Antonio Maynard, will be retiring on May 31, 2019, leaving behind a solid legacy.

Under his tenure, St. Kitts and Nevis became a more assertive and active actor in UNESCO since its inception as a member to this specialized UN agency in 1983.   Since then, the country has been a net beneficiary of its expertise and interventions, benefiting the entire community – citizens, government departments, and officials, NGOs, and local experts – via the implementation of the UNESCO’s programmes and activities in all aspects of the country’s national developmental efforts.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 28, 2019 (SKNIS): Tuesday, May 28, marked an additional step in further strengthening the relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and The Republic of China (Taiwan), with the inaugural visit of His Excellency (H.E.) Jaushieh Joseph Wu, Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

H.E. Wu was greeted and welcomed at the private jet terminal, Kayan Jet, by the Honourable Mark Brantley, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation in St. Kitts and Nevis, Kay Bass, Permanent Secretary, as well as other government officials.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 28, 2019 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC), Her Ladyship Dame Janice Pereira, DBE, LL. D, has publicly acknowledged the continued support of the Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris-led Team Unity administration for the Judiciary.

“The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court has always enjoyed great support from the Government and people of St. Kitts in its training programmes, as well as for court reform initiatives,” the Honourable Chief Justice said.
