Hurricane Beryl: NEMA in preparedness mode, public urged to remain vigilant

 Basseterre, St. Kitts (July 7, 2018) — The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is currently monitoring Hurricane Beryl and according to the National Disaster Coordinator, Mr Abdias Samuel, the agency is in preparedness mode and is advising the general public to remain vigilant and monitor the system by listening to updates from the Meteorological Office in St. Kitts and also from NEMA.

Report on the alledged bike chase which cause a biker his death.

Please be advised that a fatal accident occurred earlier this afternoon at around 4:15pm at Wellington Road in the Vicinity of the Old Public Works Dept. Dead is Tau Johnson of Buckley’s Housing Project. He turned 20 years of age today. The circumstances as reported are that while on patrol the SSU spotted the deceased in the area of AVEC. He appeared suspicious they got out of the vehicle and signal for him to stop. He did not stop. They then got back in the vehicle set chase through Basseterre. He ran the Red light at Bakers Corner and proceeded up Wellington Road and while attempting to maneuver between some vehicles lost control and fell. He was transported to the JNF Hospital and later was pronounced dead. It is worthy to note that at no point in time the police vehicle came into contact with the motorcycle as is being propagated. The traffic department is investigating
