TRAVEL PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE IN MARKETING THE DESTINATION AS TOP TOURIST ATTRACTION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 15, 2023 (SKNIS): Destination marketing is a necessary tool to promote any country. As such, the Ministry of Tourism and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA) have embarked on several initiatives to ensure that the Federation is properly marketed as a top tourist destination.

One such initiative is traveling outside of the Federation to market the destination. An initiative Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Marsha Henderson said is critical as it helps to familiarize people with St. Kitts and Nevis and bring more visitors to our shores, which will in turn boost the economy and establish St. Kitts and Nevis as a desirable holiday destination.

“Last November, we went to London. We did road tours in Kent and Surrey, and we went to West London and other places just to sell the destination. Can you imagine… some people didn’t even know that St. Kitts existed? Now, can you stay home and get people to know about us?” asked Minister Henderson on Infocus on June 14, 2023. “And so, we have to go out there and sell the destination and I am happy that we are seeing results… we are working to deliver a product that we sell.”

Minister Henderson said that through the Ministry of Tourism and the SKTA’s robust marketing campaign, more persons are now coming to the Federation from the United Kingdom.
The tourism minister noted that the Ministry of Tourism and SKTA continue to engage relevant stakeholders, as they have a critical role to play in the industry.

“We work with our stakeholders in the industry – the hoteliers, restaurants, primate petting vendors, and taxi and tour operators – so that they understand that they too have a responsibility in delivering a high-quality product that benefits our visitors and our stakeholders in the industry,” said Minister Henderson.  “I am happy to hear that the new campaign is yielding the success.”

Minister Henderson acknowledged the hard-working staff at the Ministry of Tourism and SKTA. “We have an amazing team, everyone carries their own weight and understands their responsibility,” she added.

HON. MARSHA HENDERSON
