BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, March 16, 2017 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has launched an inquiry into the situation as it relates to the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank’s Saddlers Branch.

This issue was brought to the Prime Minister’s attention by a concerned resident of that area at the last Good Governance and Accountability for Prosperity town hall meeting in Saddlers on February 28, 2017, and was again raised when Dr. Harris appeared on WINN FM’s 98.9 Voices programme on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

Speaking on the popular radio programme, Prime Minister Harris said the closure of the Saddlers National Bank branch has left “a void for the community of Saddlers and the adjoining communities, and it is a matter we would hope would be rectified positively, for the people, and in the people’s interest.”

To this effect, the honourable prime minister said he has written to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Bank and asked them to look into this matter.

“Interestingly, it is only this week that I penned such a letter, as part of our efforts to follow through on a number of concerns which have come from the people’s forum, that is the town hall meetings, and that was a matter that had come out of that particular forum in Saddlers. So we are not only listening to the people, we are responding to those concerns which we think have heavy merit and require action and I have actioned that by way of letter and I will give the Board of Directors some time,” Dr. Harris added.

The St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank’s Saddlers Branch was closed in April of 2009.
