(EMU) – St. Kitts, March, 28, 2017: Congratulations are in order for the Dr. William Connor Primary: not only are they the 2017 RAMS Primary School Champions, but the first school to win by the largest victory margin to date.
The proud athletes and teachers of the school convincingly retained the Championship for the second consecutive year, this past weekend, March 25th & 26th at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium. Parents, students, fans and well-wishers were all in attendance to bear witness to the various track and field events, in which Dr. William Connor accrued an impressive 17 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Hon. Shawn Richards, awarded the championship trophy and commended their performance during the competition.
The Victor and Victrix Ludorum of the Championship went to the Sandy Point Primary and Tyrell Williams Primary Schools respectively. Victor, Jahkeel Henderson amassed 42 points to obtain the title as well as the winner for the Under 11 male. Victrix, L’Nivea Nathan attained 38 points and the Under 13 female winner. Dr. William Connor also took home the trophies for winners of Under 9 male and Under 11 female categories. Under 9 female and Under 13 male categories went to the Dieppe Bay Primary School.
The runners up were the Dieppe Bay Primary with 9 gold and 4 bronze medals. Sandy Point Primary came in third place with 6 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals.
The RAMS Primary Schools Championship and CARIFTA Trials is an annual event, which primary schools from St. Kitts and regional teams participate in various track and field sporting events.
High School students will get the opportunity to portray their skills and talents at the various events in track and field this coming weekend. The TDC Interschool Championships would be hosted from Friday 31st March – Sunday April 2nd from 12:00 p.m. daily at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.
