Former Matron Gives Back to Community School.

(EMU) – St. Kitts, February 7, 2018: On Tuesday 6th February members of the Edgar T. Morris Primary School community gathered to witness Ms. Sylvia Garnett, past student and Matron of the Joseph N. France Hospital give back to her school and community.

“Members of the community know the value of human resources and there are members within our community who care for the development of the youth,” stated Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Vincent Hodge as he explained what the gesture signified.
Ms. Garnett served the profession of nursing for 40 years before retiring and subsequently, leaving the Federation. She relocated and now resides in Miami, but never forgot where she came from. “Grab every opportunity that you can,” Matron Garnett encouraged the students. She urged them, “Don’t neglect the opportunities that you have to learn to make yourself usable and be a contribution to this world.”

The monetary contribution totalling ECD 2,500.00 and other school supplies was handed over to the Minister of Education Hon. Shawn Richards. Upon receiving the donation, Minister Richards thanked Ms. Garnett for donating to the school indicating that this gesture demonstrated her commitment to helping the youth within her community and the society.
Minister Richards implored the students to emulate Ms. Garnett’s generous actions. He stated that “As you go about your school career and life after that, remember to give back to others. When you do that you will receive blessings.”
The Permanent Secretary took the opportunity to encourage and welcome all stakeholders to donate to the Ministry of Education.
