How did Dr. Douglas’ Nomination Form, other documents get into the hands of Cartwright “Big Chief” Mills?
Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 5, 2018 – How did Cartwright Mills, better known as “Big Chief” of Newton Ground, St. Kitts, get hold of the Nomination Form signed by the SKNLP Parliamentary Representative and Leader of the Opposition, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, which should be in the possession of the St. Kitts and Nevis Electoral Commission and the Electoral Office.
That is the question being asked by several nationals following the disclosure by Dr. Douglas, the former prime minister.
During last Wednesday’s press conference of his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), Dr. Douglas responding to a question disclosed that during the hearing on February 26, of a matter pertaining to the possession of a Diplomatic Passport issued by the Commonwealth of Dominica, Tony Ross Q.C, who was not properly attired to appear before the judge in open court, indicated that he was representing an unidentified constituent based on a claim he had made to the court, which had not been served on him.
“These documents and affidavit were only served on me close to four o clock on Monday afternoon at the end of the court hearing in the morning after the Attorney General indicated he was not ready to proceed,” said Dr. Douglas.
Dr. Douglas questioned how was it possible that an ordinary resident can come in possession of the Nomination Form that he signed on February 6 2015, which was declared as Nomination Day for the February 16 General Elections.
“How could Cartwright Mills, better known as “Big Chief” of Newton Ground, a constituent of mine, get hold of those documents that I signed on the 6th day of February 2015?” asked Dr. Douglas.
“How many other government documents are being circulated by Timothy Harris and his Government to persons in order to seek their own narrow political ends?” asked Dr. Douglas.
He pointed out that these are the concerns of citizens and residents in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“How much more violations can we have of other critical or confidential documents,” said Dr. Douglas.
He alluded to the several occasions, where during sittings of the National Assembly and press conferences, prime minister Harris has disclosed the private and confidential information of residents and citizens.
