Police in Nevis tight-lipped on robberies of American students
Charlestown, Nevis, March 21, 2018 – The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is tight-lipped about robberies of American students studying medicine in Nevis.
A request for confirmation was made to a police media personnel in Basseterre on Tuesday.

Everton “Obi” Powell, a Nevisian blogger in Washington D.C., posted on his Facebook page “a few American medical students were robbed in their apartments at gunpoint in the Potworks area around 4 am,” on March 18.
“Another one was robbed at gun point on the road. I’m told he even fought with the gunman. Police was on the scene doing investigation,” wrote Powell.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have not been informing the public on several serious crimes committed in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
There is widespread speculation the Ministry of National Security has directed the police not to provide information to the public on certain serious crimes.
The Office of the Prime Minister is also known to be expanding its control over several local media houses, with monetary subventions, in an effort to stifle the voice of the opposition St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and persons who have a differing view to the Harris-led Team Unity Government.
