AG Byron now says expert witnesses in Dominica law no longer necessary in Douglas Diplomatic Passport case
Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 20, 2018 – Attorney General Hon. Vincent Bryon has failed to provide an expert witness in Dominica Law and filed papers in Court Friday, 20th April, stating that an expert in Dominica Law is no longer necessary in the Dominica Diplomatic Passport case brought against Leader of the Opposition the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.
Talibah Byron, the niece of the Attorney General, Vincent Byron, made the submission before Justice Ward when the matter came up for hearing on Friday April 20.
When the matter first went before Justice Ward on February 20, Attorney General Byron requested an adjournment to submit an expert or expert witnesses in Dominica law by the April 20th hearing.
After weeks of trying and seemingly having failed to get an expert witness or witnesses in Dominica law, the Attorney General is now of the view that submission of an expert witness by either side is not necessary.
Justice Warde has ruled that submissions should be made by May 11th and has set a May 30th date for hearing of the matter.
Dr. Douglas has agreed to provide the passport to the Judge to verify that the information provided in his affidavidt
