PLP’s Constituency #4 Branch assists Trinity Strikers FC U-17 travel to St. Maarten
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, May 6, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Chairperson of Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Constituency Number Four Branch Executive, Ms Petrona Thomas, has said that as an active political/social group in the constituency they intend to reach out to every youth in Constituency Number Four and mould them to a level where they are adequately positioned to take their rightful positions in the future.
The PLP Constituency Number Four Branch Executive Chairperson made the remarks on Friday May 4 in Basseterre, as she was bidding farewell to members of Trinity United Football Club under-17 players and officials who were travelling to St. Maarten on the MV Nurse Mary to take part in a regional under-17 football tournament.
Members of the Trinity United Football Club under-17 had been invited to take part in the Willful Skillful Sports Club U-17 Football Tournament that is currently taking place at the R.I. Football Stadium on the Dutch St. Maarten. The nine teams taking part are drawn from Antigua, Anguilla, Nevis, Tortola, St. Kitts, French St. Martin, and Dutch St. Maarten.
“They contacted me in my capacity as the PLP Branch Chairperson for assistance,” said Ms Thomas. “I also invited them to the Prime Minister’s Health Walk which was held on Saturday April 28 and we decided to give some assistance. They are not the only club or social group within Constituency Number Four who we have donated things to in the past.”
According to the team’s coach, Rogers Hendricks, the team has already reached the quarter finals. They have so far played three games, losing 0-1 to New Town United of St. Kitts, and beating Roaring Lions of Anguilla 2-1, and their hosts Willful Skillful 2-1. Ronaldo Benjamin scored the two goals that sunk Willful Skillful, while Jardel Isaac and Ajani Mills scored a goal each in the game against Roaring Lions.
In the quarter finals to be played later today (Sunday May 6), the boys from Constituency Number Four will face a local team, Soualiga FC. Other teams from St. Kitts are Garden Hotspurs FC that was also assisted by the PLP (through Constituency Number Two Branch Executive), and New Town United FC.
“We as a political/social group in Constituency Number Four intend to reach out to every home, every club, every sporting group, whatever they may be,” said Ms Thomas as she congratulated the Trinity United Under-17 players on their achievements so far in the St. Maarten tournament.
“We will reach them through socialisation, and using this medium we will be able to touch on each and every one in Constituency Number Four, maybe through religion, maybe through sporting activities, maybe through retreats, and maybe through community festivals. We will touch on every home in Constituency Number Four, because that is one of our main objectives.”
