Civil Servants Ordered To Give Harris Standing Ovation At Caribbean Investment Summit

In a sad and desperate move to hold on to power, handlers for Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris this morning, Thursday 17th May, ordered government workers to greet Harris with a standing ovation as he entered the Caribbean Investment Summit which is currently underway at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.

The order was circulated earlier this morning on social media.

It is believed that the woman who voiced the infamous audio message is a former Customs Department Employee who was promoted to Head of the Central Purchasing Unit.

It is seen as a ploy to impress attendees of the summit. The May 16th to 19th summit brings together close to three hundred persons from around the world who all have a vested interest primarily in the lucrative Citizenship By Investment sector.

These stakeholders include heads of governments from the five Citizenship by Investment (CBI) jurisdictions in the Caribbean, namely, Antigua and Barbuda, commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Lucia, Grenada and host St. Kitts and Nevis. Government representatives from Malta and Cyprus, two southern European countries that offer economic citizenship programmes, as well as developers, service providers, international marketing agents and potential investors.

Other important stakeholders in banking, due diligence, risk management and cybersecurity, cryptocurrency and real estate are also participating in the event.

Prime Minister Harris still has not faced the nation to respond to recently uncovered allegations that named him in the Peter Virdee UK tax fraud case.

The matter has now grown to include damning allegations that top Caribbean leaders were a part of a larger bribery and corruption scheme intended to advance billionaire investor Peter Virdee’s business interests in the region.

Antigua and Barbuda’s now former minister of Tourism, Investment and Energy, Asot Michael, became the first major Caribbean casualty as he was forced to resign his ministerial portfolio just four days after the scandal broke in the UK on 11th may.

Michael’s resignation from the cabinet and his ministerial portfolios takes effect today, Thursday 17th 2018. He indicated on Wednesday, however, that he does not intend to resign as a member of the Antigua and Barbuda parliament.

As Harris and his coalition government maintain their silence with only two feeble defiant press releases issued to date, both of which have failed to answer the pressing questions raised in the UK high court judgement, many calls have been made across the political divide for Prime Minster Harris and the government of St. Kitts and Nevis to fully disclose their involvement with Peter Virdee.

Harris has since quietly announced that he will hold an open forum at the height of the Whit holiday weekend on Sunday 20th May at the Edgar T. Morris Primary School. It is presumed that he will attempt to use this limited forum to make some comment on the scandal engulfing him rather than in a more appropriate national address or other national public platform.

Since the scandal broke, there has also been word that Virdee possesses a St. Kitts and Nevis passport. Initially there had been claims that he was an Economic Citizen of the Federation, however, disturbing information now seems to suggest that he may actually be in posession of a diplomatic passport, which only the Prime Minister has the power to grant.

With all of this looming, it appears as though persons acting on behalf of the Prime Minister are resorting to any measure at their disposal, including using civil servants, to create the illusion that all is well in the Prime Minister’s camp.
