Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 23, 2018 – Today May 23, 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the death of St. Kitts and Nevis’ First National Hero, Second Chief Minister, First Premier and Father of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Independence, The Right Excellent Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw.

It was at 11:30 p.m. on May 23, 1978, surrounded by family members, Cabinet colleagues, Labour Party officials and close and trusted friends, that Premier Bradshaw died at his home at Fortlands, Basseterre, St. Kitts at the age of 61. He was born in St. Paul’s, St. Kitts.

May 18, 2018 also marks the 39th Anniversary of the death of Mr. Bradshaw’s successor, The Right Excellent Sir Caleb Azariah Paul Southwell.

Premier Southwell, a former Chief Minister, died on May 18th 1979 at the age of 66 in St. Lucia, shortly after chairing a meeting of Eastern Caribbean leaders at which a decision was made to institutionalise the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). Southwell was born in Dominica on the July 18, 1913. He was buried in St. Kitts.

Former Premier of St. Kitts and Nevis, United Nations Ambassador and Legal Luminary, His Excellency Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore, died on May 6, 2000 at the age of 61. He was born on February 15, 1939in Middle Island, St. Kitts.

Former parliamentarian, government minister and trade unionist, the Rt. Excellent Sir Joseph Nathaniel France, was born in Mount Lilly, Nevis, on September 16, 1907. He died at the age of 89 on May 21, 1997 in St. Kitts.

On May 27, 2012 at the age of 78, former Premier of Nevis, the Right Excellent Sir Simeon Daniel died at his Nevis home in Nevis. Daniel was born on August 22, 1934 at Barnes Ghaut Village in St. Thomas Parish on Nevis.
