Champions Lodge squeeze narrow win over Parsons in Constituency #7 Domino League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 4, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — At the end of the first round of the round-robin stage in the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, Champions Lodge emerged at the top even after suffering three losses.

When the second round opened on Monday September 3, champions Lodge who want to very quickly forget the losses they suffered met some unexpected resistance when they travelled to Constituency Number Six to face the home team Parsons Domino Club at Bradshaw Bar on Main Street Parsons Ground.

According to Lodge Domino Club’s Captain McAllister Thomas, despite being away from the comfort of their home base they had a very good game where they were leading all the way. However, in the dying minutes of the game Parsons exerted extra pressure but the effort came rather too late as Lodge ended up winning the game 13-12.

In other games played on Monday September 3, Christchurch beat Sylvers 13-6 at Tacky Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village; Guinness beat Beers 13-5 at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village; Giants beat Small Corner Bar 14-5 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project; and Unstoppable beat Molineux 13-11 at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.

However, the game between the immediate former champions Unity and newcomers Phillips, which was due to have been played at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project, was rescheduled for Wednesday September 5 at the same venue.

Even with three losses in the first round, Lodge still finished at the top having amassed a total of 59 points. The team however wants to forget the last game they played in the first round, which was one of the few delayed games during the running of the first round, as they suffered a loss that no one saw coming.

In the very last of the delayed games of the first round, which was played on Friday August 31 at the Edgar Gilbert Sports Complex pavilion in Molineux, new entrants Phillips used their home advantage and shocked the champions, Lodge Domino Club, with a 13-4 thrashing.

In the point standings, Champions Lodge were closely followed by immediate former champions Unity who had amassed a total of 56 points. Parsons, which is one of the two teams from Constituency Number Six was in the third position with 54 points.

Other point standings were: Unstoppable, 49 points; Sylvers, 45; Molineux, 42; Beers, 41; Phillips, 40; Guinness, 37; Saddlers, 37; Christchurch, 36; Small Corner Bar, 25; Giants, 20; and Tabernacle, which has since withdrawn from the league citing lack of players had 6 points.

Second segment in the second round of the round-robin stage in the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition will be played on Thursday September 6. Unity will meet Christchurch in Mansion, and Phillips will be trying their luck again when they meet Lodge at the Lodge Community Centre.

Other games will be Giants vs. Guinness at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village; Sylvers will travel to Parsons to meet the home team at Bradshaw Bar; Saddlers will be at home entertaining Molineux at Saddlers Kittie Bar; and Beers will be facing Small Corner Bar at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.
