PM’s Legacy Walk will be about Dr Harris’ contribution to Constituency #7 and the country

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 10, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, who is also the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) one of the three parties in the ruling Team Unity Administration, has for over eleven years been organising health walks that take participants from Belle Vue to Ottley’s.

As constituents host events to celebrate Prime Minister Harris’ 25th anniversary as a parliamentarian, having been elected to parliament as the representative for St. Christopher Seven on November 29, 1993, one of the major events on the packed calendar of activities will be a Legacy Walk that will be held on Saturday November 17.

Mr William Phillip, a member of the Planning Committee for the activities celebrating Prime Minister Dr Harris’ 25 years of dedicated service to the constituency and the country, on Thursday 8th November gave details as it relates to the Legacy Walk at a press conference hosted by the committee and held at the Edgar T. Morris Primary School in Tabernacle.

“The Legacy Walk takes place on Saturday November 17 starting at Belle Vue from 6:00 am, and is going to be different from the regular health walk,” said Mr Phillip. “While we walk through the different villages, we are going to highlight the achievements that have taken place under Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris. Before we leave Belle Vue we will go to the Black Rocks Pasture and we are going to look at the transformation of the pasture itself. It is a complete change to how it used to be 25 years ago.”

They will make a stop in Tabernacle and look at the newly constructed healthcare centre, the day care centre, Forensic Labs at the Tabernacle Police Station, roads and houses that have been, are still being, constructed under Dr Harris’ tenure. That will be replicated as the walkers go through the other villages until they get to their final destination in Ottley’s.

According to Mr Phillip, persons who would have been touched by his legacy will be on the walk. These will include, domino players who have for the last 23 years been taking part in the Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League, footballers, basketball players, and beneficiaries of the 15-year old Help-a-Child Programme which is sponsored by Dr Harris.

Other activities that form part of the celebrations will include walkthroughs and greetings in the villages, starting with Phillips Village on Tuesday November 13, followed by Molineux (Wednesday November 14), Christchurch (Monday November 19), Lodge (Tuesday November 20), Lodge Project (Wednesday November 21), Ottley’s (Thursday November 22), Mansion (Monday November 26), and Tabernacle (Tuesday November 27).

“We are having a motorcade which will take place on Saturday November 24,” Mr William Phillip said at the press Conference. “This motorcade starts at Black Rocks, and we go through the constituency through Tabernacle, go on to Mansion, Christchurch, to Molineux, Phillips, Lodge into Cayon and come back into Ottley’s, and then will end at Bourryeau.”

The five-person press conference panel was chaired by Mr Antonio Maynard, who is also the Deputy Chair for the Planning and Steering Committee. The Committee is chaired by Mr Anthony Ross, QC. Others on the panel were Mrs Elreter Simpson-Browne, Mr Manasses Huggins, and Ms Trevlyn Stapleton.
