CONSTRUCTION OF STATE-OF-THE-ART TABERNACLE HEALTH CENTRE NEARS COMPLETION
Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 23, 2018 (SKNIS): Residents of Tabernacle and nearby communities will soon be able to access primary healthcare services from a new modern and expanded health centre being built in the village of Tabernacle.

Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, said that work on the state-of-the-art facility is nearing completion, adding that it’s opening may serve as a Christmas gift in December or an early New Year’s gift in 2019 for residents.

The news will undoubtedly be welcomed by persons currently living in Tabernacle, Belle Vue, Black Rocks, Mansion, and Christ Church, who access health care services from the temporary site located in the Tabernacle Day Care Centre.

Work on the new facility began in November 2017 at a cost of $2.4 million. On Friday’s (November 23, 2018) edition of the Voices radio programme on WINN FM 98.9, Prime Minister Harris highlighted some of the services that will be offered at the new centre.

“It will provide a wide range of services related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), cancers, heart-related diseases, antenatal and postnatal care, and a full range of support services including support for persons suffering from HIV/AIDS,” Dr. Harris stated.

Additional space was also included in the building design to adequately house environmental officers that work in the villages. Prime Minister Harris said that nurses and doctors, as well as patients and anyone seeking medical attention will find the new health facility is very comfortable.

“We now should ensure people are more comfortable and we should ensure that the structural integrity of the building is preserved for generations to come,” the prime minister stated.
