Vice President of Finance and Administration, Jackie Williams, expressed her pleasure for taking part in the momentous landmark occasion which will provide more channels of collaboration with Ross University.
“This MOU represents the culmination of a great amount of intervarsity collaboration which has been ongoing between RUSVM and CFBC however, it takes our ongoing collaboration to a higher level,” she said, and added that some of the objectives for the MOU are providing added value for research, identifying major scientific areas and disciplines, and encouraging greater and deeper communication and collaboration.
She said that ultimately it will promote the advancement of science and technology through this collaboration between students and researchers.
“This MOU comes at an opportune time as the college is set to embark and host our own research symposium which is scheduled for June 04 and 05. We look forward to your support at this symposium and to what we anticipate will be many more research projects both from CFBC and Ross through our collaborative understanding,” she said.
Dean of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Sean Callanan, said that the university is very pleased to collaborate with the CFBC once again and that the very meaningful and important research agreement will prove to be fruitful for both institutions.
“I’m glad to say that this is not our first interaction with the CFBC,” he said, while noting that in the past couple of years, the university has developed a number of scholarships for CFBC students and the MOU is just another meaningful interaction with the college because the university firmly believes in the “empowerment of people.”
He said that is it important to have the MOU in place in order to develop inquiring minds across both institutions and noted that “the fundamentals of doing research are important to many different curriculums.”
The initial area of research will focus on aquaponics, which is a system that combines aquaculture, or raising aquatic animals with hydroponics, and cultivating plants in water.
