When it entered East Basseterre, the Hon Ian Patches Liburd took the lead, as it criss-crossed several streets in the vast New Town area, before it ended outside the constituency office at the corner of Pond Road, and Stainforth Street.
“I was pleased by the warm reception our Team Unity family received as we walked and greeted persons along the route,” noted Prime Minister Harris. “Particularly the constituents of our candidate for Constituency Two Ambassador Jonel Powell, our candidate for Number One Hon Patches Liburd, and our candidate for Number Three Hon Senator Akilah Byron-Nisbett.”

In the meantime, National Chairman of the People’s Action Movement Ambassador Jonel Powell said that the 2019 edition of the PAM Charity/Independence Walk which has been held since the 1980s was a way to come out and show solidarity with the less fortunate in the society, as the walk is held every year to get funds to a worthy charity.
“We are still resolute in our position in unity and Team Unity, and this year we are happy to have the presence of the Prime Minister for the first time,” commented Ambassador Powell. “We started in Constituency Number Three and so we are happy to have the Caretaker for that Constituency for Team Unity, the Hon Senator Akilah Byron-Nisbett and part of her team to come and join us. It is independence – it is unity and we are happy to have our brothers and sisters join us.”
