Parsons in finals of Constituency #7 Domino League; Saddlers stopped by Unstoppable
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 1, 2019 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — The second encounter in the best of three semi-final games of the 24th annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition held on Thursday October 31 proved to be a bag of mixed fortunes for the two teams from Constituency Number Six.
Defending champions, Parsons Domino Club signalled their will and determination to retain the title they won last year by overcoming a determined Guinness Domino Club 13-8 in their game held at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project to book a slot in the finals.
However, Saddlers Domino Club and Unstoppable Domino Club will now have to move on to a tie breaker game after Unstoppable stopped Saddlers in their tracks with a 13-8 beating in their encounter at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project.
Since Saddlers had won in the first encounter held on Tuesday October 29, the two teams will now meet on Tuesday November 5 from 7:30 pm at the Lodge Community Centre for the final game in the best of three semi-finals. The winner will meet Parsons in the finals.
In the Parsons/Guinness game, the defending champions led from the start and were at 5-0 when Guinness won one game for a 5-1 score. Parsons added more points and were leading 9-1 before Guinness scored another game. A late onslaught from Guinness saw them win more games but the effort was not good enough as the defending champions also surged ahead to take the game at 13-8.
Unstoppable, who had lost to Saddlers in the first of the best of three semi-final matches, came determined to cause an upset as they won the first two games before their opponents could find their footing to win a game to take the points to 2-1. Unstoppable shrugged off the attack and took the points to 5-1 in their favour.
Saddlers fought back and tied the points at 5-5, a move that took the Unstoppable camp by surprise making the players to vacate the tables and regroup for a pep-talk. They returned re-energised and quickly sent the points to 8-5. It was then a back and forth battle where Unstoppable prevailed and emerged the 13-8 winner at 10:51 pm.
Domino action continues on Sunday November 3 at 4:30 pm when past champions Unity Patriots Domino Club will face Small Corner Bar Domino Club at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project in a one-off final game to determine the Champion in the Best of the Rest competition of the 24th annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League.
The Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League, which is the longest running domino league in the country, is sponsored by Prime Minister and Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
