PM Harris lauds PLP #7 Women Empowerment Group’s fundraising breakfast patrons
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, January 27, 2020 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — The now under construction Bourryeau roundabout site on the Island Main Road was on Saturday January 25 the venue of a special fundraising breakfast, held under a large white tent, that was patronised by hundreds including Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
“We have had hundreds of persons who have come from all around St. Kitts and Nevis, and they have given us their fullest support,” said Dr Harris, who is also the Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, and the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP). “I want to note our gratitude to the patrons who have come from all over St. Kitts and Nevis, to show solidarity with us.”
Prime Minister Harris further noted: “We deeply appreciate that, and we hope that for the next one, and the one after, we will get as grand a support in turnout as we had. We had some of our returning nationals who came out, and we were especially pleased by that.”
The fundraising event, which was dubbed ‘breakfast to brunch’, was organised by the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Constituency Number Seven Women Empowerment Group.
In attendance were members of the PLP National and Branch executives, who included the Deputy National Political Leader Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett, National Chairman Mr Warren Thompson, National Secretary Ms Myrtilla Williams, National Treasurer Mr Victor Earle, and National Organiser Mr Alexis Nisbett.
Others were Youth Arm Representative Mr Manasses Huggins, Women’s Arm Representative who is also the President of Constituency Number Seven Women Empowerment Group Mrs Sonia Henry, Deputy National Treasurer Ms Claudette Thompson, and Protocol Officer Mrs Jacqueline Liddie.
All the PLP Constituency Executive Branches were represented, and branch chairmen who attended were the host chairman, Mr Lenworth Harris (Number Seven), Mr Cante Bowry (Number One), and Mr Kevin Williams (Number Six). In attendance also included Ambassador Michael Powell, Mr Anthony Ross, QC, PLP Founder Member Mr William Phillip, and Permanent Secretaries Mr Osmond Petty, and Mrs Elreter Simpson-Browne.
Prime Minister Harris used the opportunity accorded to him by the fundraising breakfast event to hold one-on-one consultations with a wide cross-section of persons under a small tent next to the main one. Those seeing the Prime Minister came from the different arms of the Team Unity Family and had come from all over St. Kitts and Nevis.
“I say again, hearty commendation, and we will continue to do events such as these, and other events and we are hoping again for the solidarity of the Team Unity Family” observed Prime Minister Harris. “What we had today was the presence of a strong contingent of people from the various families making up the Team Unity coming out to show support.”
In conclusion, Dr Harris said: “So my congratulations again to the organisers, all who gave support, all those who prepared the delicious food, all those who would have served dishes – I want them to know that they have my strongest admiration and commendation.”
Secretary of the Peoples Labour Party Constituency Number Seven Executive Branch, Mrs Vincia Matthew, thanked people from all the constituencies who turned up to give support for event which moved from breakfast to brunch where foods like cook-up, goat water, pig foot among others were served. She noted that it was a good fellowship, as some people opted to remain behind to interact with others for the event which went on past 1:00 pm.
“This is just a start, as we are hoping to have another breakfast in another area in the constituency and then we move on to a dinner,” said Mrs Matthew
