Dominican man charged with smuggling Haitians into the BVI

NEWS UPDATE, June 28, 2020 – Ten Haitians and a Dominican man are all in police custody and quarantined, as a result of local Marine Police officers swooping down on them over the past two days.

According to information, acting on intelligence the local officers intercepted a vessel while it was being operated by Crawford Sabaroche, a 53 year old Dominican. The vessel was in BVI waters speeding away from Prickly Pear.

According to Commissioner of Police Michael B. Matthews, the Joint Task Force arrested 10 illegal immigrants (Haitians) on Prickly Pear.

According to our information, six of the illlegal immigrants were found hiding out on the Island on the evening of Thursday June 25, 2020.

Based on information, the cops returned to the island the following day where they found an additional four persons in hiding at a different location.

Crawford Sabaroche has been charged for the offences.
