EVENT

CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS) is pleased to invite your media house to cover the First CARICOM IMPACS Live, Virtual CARICOM Security Conference, primarily focused on the challenges, impact and implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Security of the Caribbean Community.

The virtual week-long event will be held from Monday 27 July 2020 to Friday 31 July 2020 and convene under the overarching theme of ‘Securing Our Caribbean Community Within The Era Of Covid-19 and Beyond’.

DETAILS

The event will commence on Monday 27 July 2020 at 11:00 Atlantic Standard Time (AST) with a one and a half-hour high-level session titled: Peace, Security & Development – A Roadmap For The Future In The Context of COVID-19

The highlight and a key session on Monday 27 July 2020 will be titled A Conversation with CARICOM Leaders on COVID-19 Response and the way forward’ at 15:30 -17:00 AST.

The distinguished speakers of the Conference include, among others:

  • Jürgen Stock, Secretary General of INTERPOL
  • Timothy Antoine, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB)

The Conference includes twelve (12) interactive webinars focusing on key security priorities such as peace, security and development, criminality and organised crime, policing in the time of a pandemic, cyber security, the future of borders, migration and mobility,  climate change, corrections and prison services, the blue economy, maritime security and building resilience in small island developing states (SIDS), among others.

The Conference will bring together a network of leaders, practitioners, experts, government officials, academics, private sector representatives and civil society officials to exchange views on the challenges, impact and implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Security of the Caribbean Community.
