Top guns shocked in #7 Domino League’s fifth segment of play in first round
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, August 10, 2020 (MMS-SKN) — Fifth segment of the first round in the ongoing 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League held on Sunday August 9 produced shock results as the defending champions and two former champions lost to teams they would have easily thrashed in the past.
Phillips Domino Club, captained by Allington Berridge, continued with their winning form by thoroughly outclassing the defending champions, Parsons Domino Club, whom they beat 14-5 in a game held at the Tabernacle Police Station. Phillips, who sat out last year’s competition have won in all their five outings, and are the only team that has not lost a game.
Former champions Unity Patriots Domino Club, playing at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project, found themselves on the wrong end of the stick when Christchurch Domino Club stopped them in their tracks albeit narrowly. Christchurch carried the day with a 13-11 win.
At the neighbouring Lodge Community Centre, Tabernacle Domino Club added misery to the longstanding former champions Lodge Domino Club by handing them a 13-10 beating.
Another shocker, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, was recorded at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux when Molineux Domino Club ended their losing streak by beating Mansion Domino Club 13-11. With that result, all the teams have now won at least one game.
Guinness Domino Club galvanised by the good feeling that one of their top players, Patricia Westcott-Johnson, will be celebrating her birthday on Monday August 10, took care of Small Corner Bar Domino Club 13-9 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.
In the middle-of-the-road games, where results could have gone either way, things turned tragic for the losing teams who ended up with some very uncomfortable losses. At the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux, Unstoppable Domino Club stopped Giants Domino Club 13-5, while at the Tabernacle Police Station Saddlers Domino Club decimated Sylvers Domino Club 13-3.
Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League which is the longest running such league in the Federation, is sponsored by Prime Minister and Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
