Basseterre, St. Kitts June 28th, 2021, The St. Kitts Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) has commenced construction on the first artificial football turf in the Federation. Construction on the third phase of the Technical Center Project located at St. Peters commenced in December 2020 and will include; a full-size artificial turf, 1,000 lux floodlighting system to meet international standard and fencing of the property. The current phase of construction is contracted to Edel Grass B.V. of the Netherlands and subcontracted to local construction firm Kelly Construction at a cost of US$2,000,000.00.
Phase 1 and 2 of the SKNFA Technical Center project commenced back in 2016 with the construction of the anchor facility, which is a 15,000 sq. ft. building that includes; conference room, full kitchen, gym, medical room, offices, lecture room and dormitory. The SKNFA Technical Center masterplan includes; a futsal court, mini pitches, Olympic size swimming pool and other amenities. The Technical Center when becomes operational will transform football development and the development of sports in general in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The SKNFA is pleased to see the recommencement of construction work at the Technical Center and look forward to the completion of the current phase and the operation of the facility later in 2021 or early 2022.
The SKNFA Technical Center is being constructed under the FIFA Forward Programme Funding for infrastructure development.
