VHS Newsline – Form One (Hawaiian) Orientation

The Brightest Star in the West, the Verchilds High School, warmly welcomed its first form students (Hawaiians) on Tuesday 14th September. This session was organized by the Counselling Department to officially orient students to life at VHS.

The aims of the session were to officially welcome students from the primary schools to provide information about life at Verchilds High, including activities. Through this activity, we hope to foster a smooth transition for the new students.
The presenters were Counsellors, Mr. C. Saunders, who chaired the programme and gave an in-depth presentation on the topic, ‘Moving up to Secondary School’ while Ms. R. Govia outlined the role of the counsellors. The Deputy Principal, Ms. Belle gave a motivational speech to inspire the students to aim for success and the Block Supervisor, Ms. D. Patrick highlighted the form motto and what it means. The principal, Mr. M. Thomas reinforced school rules in a fun and engaging manner, whereby students received small tokens for correct answers. Permanent Secretary, Mr. William Hodge, also presented to the students. Students were also given a tour of the campus.
