The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Sunday, October 24, 2021 confirms a total of fifteen new cases of COVID-19.
These cases were processed on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 273 samples which were collected between October 22 and October 23, 2021.
This number of positive cases makes up 5.5% of all the samples processed on that date.
These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in-country to date to 12,426.
The Ministry of Health also reports one new COVID-19 death.
This death occurred on October 22, 2021.
To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 184 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 57.
COVID-19 death #184 is a 64 year old female from the Micoud district. The Ministry of Heath extends sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of this individual.
Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 17 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19.
This brings the number of active cases in-country to 400.
Currently, one individual is in critical state and six others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.
To date, a total of 36,585 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 31,242 have received the second dose.
A total of 13,534 individuals have received the first dose and 8,306 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Vaccinations will resume tomorrow Monday, October 25, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, Soufriere Hospital, Laborie Wellness Center and the Vieux Fort Parish Hall.
COVID-19 vaccine booster doses will be available at the CSA Center in Sans Souci, Castries and the Babonneau MultiPurpose Center.
Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 5 pm.
