A newly reconstituted Media Association of St. Kitts and Nevis has elected its seven-member executive committee to office.
On Wednesday 13th April 2022, via an online platform, members of the association casted their votes for members to fill the positions.
News Director of SKN Newsline Mr. Andre Huie emerged as the President of the association while Mr. Glen Bart, also of SKN Newsline, was elected as 1st Vice President. Mr. Jermine Abel of SKN Vibes was elected 2nd Vice President.
Aditionally, Jamiella Mc.Phail from ZONEplus Media and Freedom FM was elected Communications Director.
Ms. Natasha Morris of SKN Newsline was elected General Secretary while Ms. Sharon Richards of WINN Media SKN will serve as Assistant Secretary. Mr. Devin Richardson of Buckie Got it will serve as Treasurer.
In brief remarks following his election to office, Mr. Huie expressed gratitude to the members of the association for the confidence placed in him and affirmed the association’s commitment to stand with media workers whilst providing opportunities for individual growth.
“My philosophy is that we work as a team. I am looking forward to working with everybody on the executive and to work as a team,” he stated.
According to him: “Obviously this is a revived association, a new association with a mammoth task to basically put a lot of things in place to be viable. We’re basically setting the pace so that whoever comes after us would just fill in the gaps and follow through with the path that will be blazed.”
The Media Association of St. Kitts and Nevis, previously led by Clive Bacchus formerly of WINN Fm, was dormant for some years. An interim committee worked over the past two years to reactivate the association, which led to Wednesday’s Executive Election.
