SCHOOL RETURNS TO NORMAL SCHEDULE FOR THE NEW SCHOOL TERM

(EMU) – St. Kitts, August 25, 2022. Chief Education Officer Mr. Francil Morris told
Principals today that the school will revert to the accustomed 8:25 am to 3:30 pm schedule, except
on Thursdays when students are dismissed at 2:15 pm.


Three new principals were added to the school leadership cohort for the upcoming school term.
These include Jamillia Bristol-Browne Headteacher at the Beach Allen Primary School; Ulukia
Bryan Deputy Head at the Dieppe Bay Primary School and Javan Cannonier, Deputy Head at the
Cayon Primary School. These new assignments will take effect on August 29, 2022.


Other topics discussed at the meeting included: Guidelines for the reopening of school which
takes place on September 5th this year for teachers, while gates open to students on September 7th.
Discussions included among other things the way forward for health and safety protocols, which
will be released to the public shortly.


Also on the agenda were Independence Celebrations and Summer Workshops for Teachers
(starting Monday, August 29). All teachers of Government schools in the Federation will join the
Ministry of Education at the Rivers of Living Water Christian Centre for this event starting
promptly at 9 on Monday morning.


Education Officials presenting at the Principals’ meeting included Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Education. Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley; Permanent Secretary, Mr. William Hodge;
Education Planner, Mr. Quinton Morton; and Deputy Chief Education Officer, Mrs. Lisa Pistana;
Education Officer Mrs. Janelle Williams Jacobs and Curriculum Officer, Mr. Julian Bradshaw.
