NEVIS REFORMATION PARTY (NRP) LEADER DR JANICE DANIEL-HODGE IS VERY UPBEAT about her party’s and candidates’ chances at the December 12 election. In a radio address to Nevisian and residents earlier today, the NRP leader expressed gratitude voters noting their eagerness to cast their ballots.
She promised that December 13 will usher in a new era on the island plagued by poor governance, corruption, selfishness, greed among other ills which have robbed especially young people of a secure future.
“It’s a great day to be a Nevisian and it is a great day to be a member and friend of the Nevis Reformation Party. Today I greet you as Dr. Janice Daniel-Hodge, leader of the Nevis Reformation Party, your leader now and your leader-in-waiting, because in just 7 more days we the people of Nevis would be saved from the neglect, greed and corruption that have plagued the CCM (Concerned Citizens Movement) administration.”
“I greet you my fellow citizens, residents and well-wishers, whether you be here in the federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis or somewhere in the diaspora, I wish to thank you for sharing your time with us today,” she said in her radio address.
On Monday’s Nomination Day activities, Daniel-Hodge said her NRP is ready and roaring to go as they presented its best slate of candidates.
“Today we present to you five (5) outstanding individuals, individuals who have proven themselves to be a man and women of courage, and who have your best interest at heart. 5 individuals who believe in accountability, and who believe that the people of Nevis deserve to have leaders who understand the meaning and importance of country above self,” she noted.
She challenged citizens and residents to vote Premier Mark Brantley and his team out based on their dismal five-year performance.
“On the 05 June 2020 our country was presented with a Team Unity Construct, forged by alliances of the Peoples Labour Party, the Peoples Action Movement, and the Concerned Citizens Movement. By 2022 we saw our great nation plunged into turmoil as allegations of corruption bitterly stained all 3 parties. It is no secret and is widely accepted that the Brantley led CCM has failed to deliver anything of substance to Nevis while in the federal parliament and when the dust was settled, the SKNLP found that the CCM representatives were unfit and unworthy of being federal ministers,” she recalled.
She continued, “December 12th is Election day for the Nevis Island Assembly and the people of Nevis will be given the opportunity to go to the polls, to say NO to the continuation of failures and wastage, NO to the continuation of neglect from uncaring ministers! and No to the cesspit of corruption that is the CCM.”
“My people, this is an opportunity for you to vote for representatives who have integrity, who know and understand what it means to perform; what it means to have empathy and compassion for others, what it means to put country above self. Election day presents an opportunity for a fresh start to turn the face of Nevis in a new direction to bring peace, progress and prosperity to Nevis once again,” she said.
The NRP leader told her audience her party is the better option and will hit the ground running on day one. She stressed that her party truly cares and understands the struggles and challenges faced by residents, chafing under CCM’s incompetence.
“There is no commonality of success and progress, hardly anything to celebrate, unless you are part of a selected few who are granted access to state resources to the extent of their will and fancy. Today the Nevis Reformation Party presents you with a viable option, a real and true alternative to the morass that has stifled the growth” of our country.
On investments, Daniel-Hodge noted: “After 15-years as a member of the August body, the former Premier Brantley has failed to provide as little as a lemonade stand to the people of Nevis. As leader of the Nevis Reformation Party, and I speak collectively on behalf of my entire team, I pledge to re-unite a divided Nevis and a divided nation. We pledge, as your newly elected representatives, that we would restore decency and accountability, we would restore economic stability, strengthen our social safety nets and build a better Nevis for ALL. A better Nevis where citizens and residents are respected and afforded equal access and equal opportunities to share in our nation’s development,’ she promised.
She is seeking to become the first female Premier in Nevis, and remains confident about her party’s chances of unseating CCM’s Brantley.
“Indeed as we walk the streets, the alleyways and byways, the disposition of the people says it all. We have heard your cries for jobs. We feel you anguish with the lack of acceptable and affordable health care. We understand the need to provide our children with free university education. We feel your pain with the high cost of living. It has not gone unnoticed that our social safety nets require an urgent overhaul. We hear you when you say that there is a need for a proper arrangement for the share of CBI and other state resources. Access to federal services is woefully inadequate,” she stressed,
She added, “I say to you today, cast your net on this side. Tell your friends, your families, to cast their nets on this side. It is time to start a new chapter, a new chapter in Nevis’ history with new soulful, caring, serious and substantive leadership. I implore you; I beg of you to go to the polls and to overwhelmingly cast your votes for the Nevis Reformation Party. Together we can remove the common danger and replace the norms of comradery and decency and respect, in hopes of securing the best opportunities for Nevis.”
On Election Day, let your votes deliver a clear and decisive message…… ‘that enough is enough’. Nevis is ready for the change,” the NRP leader emphasised.
