Successful virtual Bilateral Meeting between Ministers of Trade of Trinidad and Tobago Paula Gopee-Scoon and the Rt Honourable Dr Denzil Douglas 14:04:23.
With just nine months in as Minister of International Trade et al, the Rt Honourable Dr Denzil Douglas remains committed to participating in discussions with his CARICOM colleagues to remain abreast with the trade issues that are affecting the region and more importantly the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis .
Today, Honourable Dr Denzil Douglas engaged in a virtual bilateral meeting with his Caricom counterpart Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon , Minister of International Trade and Industry in Trinidad and Tobago. The meeting addressed pertinent agenda items up for discussion for the upcoming 56th meeting of The Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) slated for June 1-2, 2023.
COTED is an organ of CARICOM tasked with a crucial mandate for advancing integration, promoting trade in goods and services and the sustainable economic development of the member states of CARICOM. It is one of the primary platforms for building international competitiveness and economic resilience for the Region.
The meeting though brief was very productive and cordial . The Honourable Minister Douglas was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of International Trade Mrs. Jasemin Weekes , Mr. Sean Lawrence, Director of International Trade and Mr. Kennedy De Silva Comptroller of Customs.
