TDC AMBASSADORIAL SCHOLARS VISIT PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Basseterre: St. Kitts, Monday, April 24, 2023: As part of its 50 th anniversary celebration of
corporate service to the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis the TDC Group of Companies has
embarked on an initiative dubbed TDC Warren C Tyson Memorial Scholarship School
Presentation Tour.
Speaking with Education Media Unit (EMU), Mr. Warren Moving company secretary elucidated
the vision driving the School Scholarship Presentation Tour, “The intention is to inspire grade 5
and 6 students to aspire to attain the Warren C Tyson Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is
geared towards assisting its secondary school recipients with school supplies including books,
uniforms and other necessities. It also exposes them to on- the- job training through the attached
internship program.”
The Scholarship School Presentation Tour started Monday, April 24 at the St Pauls Primary
School where Mr. Crios Freeman Attorney at Law and past recipient described to students the
positive impact the scholarship had on his academic career and encouraged the students to
remain focused and steadfast in their pursuit of academic success.
“As a recipient of the scholarship the individual will have the advantage of being ‘looked after’
as well as being assigned a mentor, a member from the company who is able to provide you with
guidance. This scholarship and its impact on the country [St. Kitts and Nevis] will have to be
measured, but for me it was an enormous opportunity because maybe I would not have made it
through school like I did without the guidance and financial support from TDC”, he said.
Mr. Freeman used the opportunity to express gratitude to the TDC Group of Companies for its
assistance. “It was seven years of real fulfilment and assistance from TDC. I have given gratitude
to TDC for the guidance and support it gave to me. Besides the monies on an annual basis that
assisted me with school, school supplies, as an athlete, as a debater, TDC gave me great
assistance.”
Marketing Assistant Mr. Dominic Matthew on site at the St. Paul’s Primary School stated “today
[April 24] marked the start of the Warren C Tyson Memorial Scholarship School Presentation
Tour. All of our alumni from St. Kitts and Nevis will be making similar presentations like Mr.
Freeman did here today at the St. Paul’s Primary. We are going to have persons with varied
backgrounds who would tell you about their stories, their life at TDC; they’ll also tell you about
how the scholarship has helped them. This is part of TDC’s ongoing commitment as we [TDC]
celebrate our 50 th anniversary under the theme – Your neighbour! Your Partner! Your Future!
The Warren C Tyson Memorial Scholarship is in its 42 nd year of service to the academic
advancement of students.
