MINISTER OF EDUCATION JOINS THE NAAP IN CELEBRATION OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS DAY
Basseterre: St. Kitts, Thursday, April 27, 2023: The National Association of Administrative Professionals (NAAP) held an Administrative Professionals Developmental Workshop on International Association of Administrative Professionals day, under the theme The Power of Influence…Staying Motivated in the Workplace.
At the event on Wednesday April 26, Minister of Education Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley
congratulated the NAAP for its commitment to the Federation’s Administrative Professionals.
The minister expressed pleasure at having been given the opportunity to celebrate the
administrative professionals.
“You have chosen to both celebrate and educate yourselves, therefore I must take this
opportunity to publicly commend the work of the National Association of Administrative
Professionals for faithfully, working to train, coach and mentor individuals in this career field for
over 40 years”, the Minister stated.
Noting the importance of the administrative professionals to organizational success, Dr. Hanley
charged the attendees to remain intrinsically motivated:
“Admin professionals you epitomize excellence and professionalism. When I think of administrative professionals, I often think that you are the unsung heroes of organizations. Those of us who sit in leadership roles would have to agree that administrative professionals contribute largely to the success and overall effectiveness of our organizations. The role of the administrative professional has certainly evolved especially in the past three years, therefore, it is imperative that you pursue continuous professional development to remain relevant in this evolving workforce”, stated Dr. Hanley.
Facilitator for the workshop Ms. Kezia Preville, founder of AdVizze Consulting Inc. St Lucia
voiced the importance of staying motivated in the workplace taking into consideration the
changes brought about by the pandemic.
“Because they [administrative professionals] have such an integral part to play in the development of the business and society as a whole; because this [office administration] is really the backbone – from receptionist, to the executive secretaries, the office managers, they are all administrators. Because of the fact that we went through such an impasse, which none of us was expecting, the development has to come strong because the world is open again. Motivation has to come from within. The role is for them [administrators] to be supportive of the entire system. The system breaks down without the administrators, thus their role is pivotal and if they are unmotivated what we’ve recognized is that we don’t have a country”, explained Ms. Preville.
