Government officials, including Prime Minister the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew and Senior Minister & Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, met this morning with representatives of major food suppliers and traders in St. Kitts and Nevis in an effort to find solutions to reduce the cost of food in the supermarkets.

The rising cost of food is being driven by external forces, however, the Government remains resolute in its efforts to find the right solutions that will bring relief to the people.

To date, the Government has lowered corporate income tax and unincorporated business tax, as well as reduced the excise tax on gasoline. Additionally, persons are also benefitting from concessions on all school supplies. This measure runs until the end of September 2023.
