The ministry, whose motto is ‘Building Businesses, Fueling Innovation’, is centered around supporting aspiring entrepreneurs, business enthusiasts and innovation seekers.

Director of the Small Business Development Centre (SBDC), Philip Browne, stated that “The purpose of the community business meeting is to create awareness within communities of the support services available to Small and Midsized Enterprises (SMEs) through the Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship and its business support arm, the SBDC (Small Business Development Centre).”

He added that the meeting’s purpose was also “To expose attendees to the products and services available to entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small and Midsized Enterprises (MSME) Sector from the extended ecosystem inclusive of agencies such as the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Social Security Board, the Inland Revenue Department and other relevant stakeholders.”

He added that the attendees would have the opportunity to engage representatives of the various
support/services agencies and obtain first-hand guidance on the methods to access the available
support services. They will also be exposed to advice on business management and other business-related subject areas as well as be provided with the opportunity to network and form alliances where possible.

The activities span the latter half of August with the All-White Silent Sweat Fete and Community Business Meeting being completed thus far. The Small Business Crawl, Virtual Trade Show, Launch Ceremony & Sustainable Horizon Symposium, Aromas, Flavours Tasting & Networking Event are to be completed throughout the rest of August.
