Government of St Kitts and Nevis to participate in UNEP Environmental Forum

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, 21stAugust 2023 – The Government of St Kitts and Nevis, through the Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment, will participate in the 23rd Forum of Ministers of Environment in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) from the 23rd -26th October 2023 in Panama.

The Forum is made up of 33 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean and is considered the most important stage for political dialogue and partnership in matters relating to the environment.

It is held prior to the UN Environmental Assembly (UNEA) to discuss what are considered to be regional priorities and also to prepare the position of, and the intended inputs of the LAC. The results following the Forum will then be presented to the UNEA with the expectation that the Body puts those results into action.

The meeting will be divided into two segments. Firstly, there will be a  High-Level Officers Meeting to finalize decisions and declarations. These final recommendations will then be presented for adoption, during the second segment that is designated for Ministers or Vice Ministers of Environment of LAC.
