THE US, VATICAN, INDIA & MOROCCO EXTEND CONGRATULATIONS TO ST. KITTS & NEVIS ON ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE
Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 18, 2023 (SKNIS): Several friendly countries have extended congratulations to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as it celebrates 40 years of nationhood, having attained Independence on September 19, 1983.
In a congratulatory letter to Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd GCMG, JP, Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis, His Holiness Pope Francis, Sovereign of the Vatican City State and Bishop of Rome said:

“I send cordial greetings and good wishes to Your Excellency on the occasion of the National Day of Saint Kitts and Nevis, together with my prayers that God will bestow upon you and your fellow Citizens the blessing of fraternity and peace.”
Additionally, His Excellency Joseph R. Biden Jr., President of the United States of America, in a letter to H.E. Dame Liburd said:

“On behalf of the people of the United States, I send our best wishes to you and the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis as you celebrate 40 years of Independence.
“The close bond between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the United States reflects our shared commitment to a democratic vision of the future. And as partners and friends, we are forging that future together. That includes addressing the challenges that matter most in our peoples’ lives—from combating the climate crisis to strengthening inclusive economic growth to tackling security threats in the Caribbean. And, the United States will continue to support Saint Kitts and Nevis as it strives to meet 100 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources, including through the US-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis.
“In the year ahead, I look forward to advancing the close cooperation and collaboration between our two nations. And, I wish you a peaceful and joyful Independence Day.”
Also, in a congratulatory note to Her Excellency the Governor General, Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, said:

“As the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis commemorates its Independence, it gives me great pleasure to send you my warmest congratulations, along with my best wishes to you for good health and happiness and to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis for further progress and prosperity.
“We look forward, in the Kingdom of Morocco, to seeing the relations rooted in friendship with your country further strengthened and our cooperation expanded, bilaterally as well as between our respective regions. I am sure this would serve our peoples’ interests and contribute to stronger South-South relations.”
Also, in a congratulatory message to H.E. Dame Liburd, Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, President of India, wrote:

“India and St. Kitts and Nevis enjoy warm and friendly ties based on shared values of parliamentary democracy, historical linkages and convergence of views on contemporary issues. We look forward to further strengthen cooperation with St. Kitts and Nevis, both bilaterally as well as in the multilateral and regional fora including CARICOM.”
