Job Description

Job Title: Network Specialist

Work Location: National ICT Center, C.A.P. Southwell Industrial Site

Division/Department: Department of Technology

Reports to: Director

 [ ] Part-time

Description of Post: This role plans, designs and executes networks. This role is expected to maintain the health of the networks utilized by the government service, ensuring connectivity. The network specialist instructs and leads the teams in relation to the networks they manage.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Network design and deployment
• Produce reports on networks across government and their health
• Center network administration • Support e-government structures as they relate to networks
• Ensure security compliance of networks with international standards
• Preventative network repairs (diagnosis, recommendations, installation)
• Manages the PBX and its peripherals
• Any other duties assigned

Qualifications / Training
• At least a bachelor’s degree
• Network experience of at least 10 years
• Training in PBX management and maintenance
• Ability to operate network design software
• Understanding of fiber optic cabling and connections

Skills and Competencies
 • Skills in fiber management
• Ability to manage a team
• Ability to manage and execute projects
 • Drawing skills (network Topology construction)
 • Ability to work with others and alone if necessary
• Can competently manage a PBX and its peripherals

Education and/or Experience:
The Applicant must have the following skills:
• University bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science or networking or a related discipline.
• Network experience of at least 10 years
• Training in PBX management and maintenance
 • Ability to operate network design software.
 • Understanding of fiber optic cabling and connections

Salary: K33 – K38 ($59,340-$72,936) per annum
