INLAND REVENUE TO LAUNCH NEW TAX ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM ON FEBRUARY 06, 2024

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, February 01, 2024 – The St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue Department is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its cutting-edge tax administration system, SMARTS (Sustainable Modernized Administrative Revenue Tax System) which is scheduled to commence operations on February 06, 2024.

As part of this significant upgrade, the administration of Value Added Tax (VAT), Corporation Income Tax (CIT), Unincorporated Business Tax (UBT), and Business and Occupation (B&O) and Liquor Licences will be seamlessly transitioned to the SMARTS platform, enhancing efficiency, and improving the overall taxpaying experience.


Key Highlights of SMARTS Implementation:
Focused Administration: SMARTS will serve as the central platform for the administration of the taxes mentioned above ensuring a streamlined and integrated approach.


Closure for Transition: In preparation for the system launch, the Inland Revenue Department in St. Kitts will temporarily close its operations at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 02, 2024. The Department will reopen on Tuesday, February 06, 2024, following the successful implementation of SMARTS.


Portal Unavailability: The current electronic portal will be temporarily unavailable during the transition period until SMARTS is officially launched.


Help Desk Support: The Inland Revenue Department will operate a dedicated Help Desk with extended hours of operation that will commence on the launch date to assist taxpayers.
