BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis, April 5, 2024 (Press Secretary, PMO) — Prime Minister the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, alongside his wife Mrs. Diani Prince-Drew, warmly welcomed the 2023 Cohort of the 25 Most Remarkable Teens at their residence on Saturday, March 30th, 2024. This event signifies the Prime Minister’s ongoing commitment to engaging and empowering young leaders in nation-building efforts. 

Since assuming office, Prime Minister Drew has made it a tradition to host these remarkable teens, providing them with a platform to voice their perspectives on national, regional, and global issues.  

In a recent Facebook post, the Prime Minister expressed his admiration for the teens’ dedication to the Federation’s progress, stating, “I am truly impressed by these wonderful young people, and I know that they will contribute significantly to the continued building of our beloved Federation. It is always enlightening to listen to their perspectives and ideas as they are instrumental to building the Federation of tomorrow.”

During the dinner, Prime Minister Drew issued a challenge to the teens, encouraging them to develop a project that advances the concept of a sustainable island state. He pledged $25,000 towards the realization of this project, emphasizing its importance in shaping the future of Saint Kitts and Nevis. 

“If you as the remarkable teens of St Kitts and Nevis can come up with a project that would accelerate the idea of the sustainable island state, meaning, Saint Kitts and Nevis accelerating the SDGs to become a sustainable island state, I will support that project. I will give some resources to that project, so I will announce tonight that the youth department working with the Prime Minister’s Office to develop a project to accelerate, enhance, and push forward the sustainable island state concept and how we can get there even sooner from the perceptive of youths; that Iould put $25,000 on the table to develop that project”, he said. 

Each year, teens are nominated from diverse categories, including Youth Activism, Entrepreneurship, Academics, Sports, and Volunteerism. Nominations for the 25 Most Remarkable Teens officially opened on March 22nd and will continue until May 24th, 2024. Those wishing to nominate a deserving teenager may do so at the St. Kitts Department of Youth Empowerment on the third floor of the Cable Building. 

A special sitting of the National Assembly is held each year in November 2024 to honor and award the successful 25 Most Remarkable Teens in Saint Kitts and Nevis, highlighting the government’s recognition of youth excellence and contribution to the nation’s development.
