SKNABA Welcomes Major Upgrades to Basketball City
Basseterre, St. Kitts – February 5, 2025 – The St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (SKNABA) is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Sports has officially commenced long-awaited upgrades to Basketball City on Victoria Road. This development marks a significant step toward improving the nation’s premier basketball facility and enhancing the overall experience for players, officials, and fans.
As part of the renovations, the outdated court matting has been removed to allow for an extension of the playing surface to meet FIBA regulatory dimensions. A new outdoor surface and matting will then be installed to ensure top-quality gameplay. Other key upgrades include:
• Installation of new FIBA-sanctioned moveable and adjustable rings to meet international standards.
• New and repositioned lighting poles for better court visibility.
• Repairs to the player facilities, including minor roof repairs, painting, and general maintenance of the changing rooms.
• Planned coverage/shelter in the near future for the court to improve playing conditions.
These enhancements align with SKNABA’s commitment to growing basketball in St. Kitts and Nevis by providing a high-quality facility for local athletes. Work is expected to be completed in time for the revised start of the SKNABA Senior League in April 2025, which was originally set to begin on March 9, 2025.
“We commend the Ministry of Sports for its dedication to improving Basketball City,” said SKNABA President Glenville Jeffers. “This investment will not only elevate the standard of play but also create a more enjoyable atmosphere for fans and athletes alike.”
SKNABA looks forward to the completion of this project and encourages all basketball enthusiasts to stay tuned for updates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead under the theme: This is Basketball Time!
