SKNFA LAUNCHES C LICENSE COACHING COURSE
The St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA), through its Coaching Education
Department, officially launched the C License Coaching Course 2026 recently at the National
Bank Group Technical Center, marking another significant step in the Federation’s commitment
to football development and coach education.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, SKNFA General Secretary Techell Mclean underscored the
importance of the initiative and highlighted the Association’s decision to offer the course free of
cost to participants.
“These courses are usually offered at a cost, but since the SKNFA has hosted these courses, we
do them free of cost because we want to empower our coaches within the Federation of Saint
Kitts and Nevis through capacity building,” she said.
“The C Licence course is geared at building and advancing training for our coaches. This will
help with the development of our graduate programs and team development.”
Coach Educator and Course Facilitator Alvin Corneal also emphasized the value of the
opportunity being provided to local coaches.
“In the U.S., this cost is 4,500 U.S. dollars. Same information, same hours, same lecture, but the
rest of the region decided they will charge a lot less. I know in Trinidad it’s 250 U.S. dollars. In
Jamaica, I think it’s about 400 U.S. dollars,” he said. “So to hear SKNFA making this free, it tells
me a story about the blocks that you’re building for coach education and persons must not take it
for granted and must take advantage of the situation.”
Meanwhile, SKNFA Technical Director Giba Damiano delivered a strong message of
responsibility and commitment to the participants on the opening day of the course.
“You have signed a commitment now, not only to yourself, but to everyone that loves football in
the country. Every club has a representative here…I appreciate what you do,” Giba said.
The course, which runs from April to September 2026, has reached full capacity with 46 registered coaches, reflecting strong engagement from clubs across the federation. The program is designed to equip coaches with the skills to deliver structured and purposeful training while contributing to player development, discipline, and the overall football culture in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Through the C License Coaching Course and its wider Train the Trainer Program, the SKNFA
continues to strengthen coaching education and build local coach educator capacity as part of its
long-term vision for football development in the federation.
