Prime Minister Harris received at Buckingham Palace

 Prime Minister Harris had a private audience today with Her Royal Highness Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace. For this CHOGM, which will see more that 50 Heads of Government in attendance for the first time in the history of The Commonwealth; other Members of the Royal Family have been invited to support Her Majesty The Queen given the importance of the Commonwealth to The Queen. 

Anne, Princess Royal KG KT GCVO GCStJ QSO GCL CD is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Anne is known for her charitable work, and is patron of over 200 organisations.  She has been President of Save the Children UK since 1970. Princess Royal is a substantive title  awarded by a British monarch to his or her eldest daughter.  Princess Anne has held the title of Princess Royal since 1987 and is its seventh holder.  She is also an equestrian and was the only member of the Royal Family to have participated in the Olympics.

Throughout the week, members of the Royal Family will attend various events on behalf of The Queen. The Prince of Wales will open The Science Museum with the Indian Prime Minister, attend a Reception at the closing session of the Commonwealth Business Forum; host The Prince’s Trust International CHOGM Reception and attend a “Malaria No More” event with The Duke of York. The Duchess will attend the closing session of the Women’s Forum Roundtable and it is anticipated that Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle will take part in the closing session of the Commonwealth Youth Forum. 

Prime Minister Harris took the opportunity to brief the Princess Royal on developments in St. Kitts and Nevis as well as to share his country’s hopes for a successful CHOGM. The PM also extended an invitation to the Princess Royal to visit the Federation.

Prime Minister Harris’ next engagement will be with Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau to discuss issues of climate change and ocean governance.
