Douglas Wattley to St. Christopher 8: Dr.Terrance Drew have you forefront in his plans
Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 11, 2018 – Douglas Wattley, the former Chairman of Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris’ Peoples Labour Party (PLP) has assured all the people of St. Christopher 8, that the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s (SKNLP) candidate, Dr. Terrance Drew has them in the forefront of his plans.
“I just want to say to the good people of Constituency # 8, help is coming. And the help is Dr. Drew. I have had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Drew and I have had the distinct opportunity to observe his planning for the Constituency and I can tell you, it’s a thing of beauty. The man has the people in the forefront of his plans,” said Wattley in a posting on his FaceBook page Friday.
“I can say categorically, that you will get what you need after the next election. Do not worry that you are ignored today. That too shall pass. More than three years and you cannot get anything you want – that’s a shame. Three years and you have received about 5 houses per year in Cayon and less than that throughout the rest of the Constituency,” said Wattley, who played a major role in helping the sitting People’s Action Movement (PAM) candidate Hon. Eugene Hamilton in his re-election bid in the February 16 2015 General Election.
Mr. Wattley disclosed: “Dr. Drew has authorized me to ask you to hold on – keep the faith – he and the Labour Party will come to your rescue. I believe him. I believe that you can trust his words. His heart is in the right place. Your needs will be met after the next elections. That is a sure bet you can make. Vote Dr. Drew.”
Wattley was among several founding and executive members of the PLP removed from their posts during a hastily-called inaugural PLP convention in March 2016, for publicly requesting Dr. Harris to deal with allegations of over EC$10 million in missing campaign contributions.
Then PLP Deputy Political Leader, Ambassador Sam Condor, former secretary Clecton Phillip, Treasurer Venelma Hanley and others who also raised the campaign funds issue, were not invited to the convention and like Wattley, were also removed from the PLP executive.
They were replaced by family members and close friends of Prime Minister Harris.
